For FY 2013-14, there are 329 distributors in the country who are classified as ‘under audit’.
Top 329 distributors (who come under audit) contribute 50% of the AUM of the industry.
Out of the above, 250+ has a billing of >=Rs.1 crore. The rest are picked up based on geographical criteria.
Out of 329: Banks- 32, NDs- 93 and IFAs-205
Out of 205 IFAs, only 135 have a revenue of >= Rs.1 crore.
AUM break up of 329 are as follows:
Banks- Rs.1,95,000 crores
NDs- Rs.2,60,000 crores
IFAs- Rs.40,000 crores
Total Rs.4,95,000 crores
Income break up of top 329 are as follows:
Banks- Rs.1075 crores
NDs- Rs.1220 crore
IFAs- Rs.287 crores
Total: Rs.2582 crores
It’s a pity that in the entire country only 135 IFAs are even able to bill (not profit) >= Rs.1 crore.
